Green bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) and bitter melon (Momordica charantia) contain the active compounds beta-sitosterol and stigmasterol, which act in a way similar to insulin: they help stabilise blood sugar and protect the beta cells of the pancreas.

  1. Increases glucose uptake into muscle. More sugar is absorbed from the blood and used as energy.
